10 Things to Know about Cultural Routes: An Overview for Professional Tourist Guides
A Seminar for Tourist Guides
The great majority of visitors to Europe have not heard of the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe. This is also the case for many tourist guides.
The Cultural Routes were established in 1987 and are a network of thousands of sites across Europe. Travelling the Routes visitors have the chance to experience the rich, diverse and shared European heritage. Many of these routes are away from over-visited destinations, giving the opportunity to visitors and guides alike to promote sustainable tourism.
This seminar will explore the history of development of the Routes, focus on case studies, and offer practical advice on how to connect with sites and answer difficult questions.
