Cultural Routes of Europe Series

A Seminar for Tourist Guides

The great majority of visitors to Europe have not heard of the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe. This is also the case for many tourist guides.

The Cultural Routes were established in 1987 and are a network of thousands of sites across Europe. Travelling the Routes visitors have the chance to experience the rich, diverse and shared European heritage. Many of these routes are away from over-visited destinations, giving the opportunity to visitors and guides alike to promote sustainable tourism.

This two-part seminar will explore the history of development of the Routes, focus on case studies, and offer practical advice on how to connect with sites and answer difficult questions. It is interactive and requires participation. Tourist guides are expected to research and present a cultural route allocated during the seminar. Participants of both seminar parts will receive a certificate of attendance.

General Information

The programme consists of 2 sessions of 2 hours each directed learning. It covers a range of development activities, essential in any guide training programme. The skills gained are transferable to many tourist guiding situations and destinations.

The training Programme trainers are FEG accredited. To achieve best possible results the number of the course participants is limited.

All paticipants who attend both days of the “Cultural Routes in Europe” seminar will be awarded a FEG e-certificate of attendance.

Please note that all payments are final; no refunds will be given. If you are unable to attend, you may come to a private arrangement with another Tourist Guide to take your place but this shall not involve FEG other than being informed of the name and Association of the substitute.
