7 Reasons To Hire Professional Qualified Tourist Guides:

  1. Tourist Guides undergo rigorous training to qualify. Tourist Guides enhance their education by attending Continuous Professional Development courses, on a variety of new themes, markets, specialised tours. Tourist Guides receive specialised training in disabilities.
  2. Tourist Guides have in-depth knowledge of their area and are trained for the visitor’s safety and destination regulations. They are regularly updated of changes in access and regulation.
  3. Tourist Guides are ambassadors of their cities, regions and countries. They make visitors feel welcome and interpret the area specific heritage.
  4. Tourist Guides help visitors to experience, understand and enjoy the places they are visiting.
  5. Tourist Guides offer their services in a multitude of languages.
  6. Tourist Guides are flexible and willing to provide tailor made experiences for visitors. They can undertake any engagement, from a short visit to a museum or site to a tour lasting days or even weeks.
  7. Tourist Guides have public liability insurance and offer guiding services of high standard.

The European Federation of Tourist Guide Associations (FEG) supports the EU efforts to facilitate free movement of provision of services within its members states, where appropriate.

FEG emphasises the importance of area-specific tourist guides by supporting the European Definition EN:13809:2003. According to the Definition a tourist guide is “a person who guides visitors in the language of their choice and interprets the cultural and natural heritage of an area, which person normally possesses an area-specific qualification usually issued and/or recognised by the appropriate authority”.

This can only be achieved through a common high standard of qualification for tourist guides in all European countries. Our members acknowledge the European Standard EN15565 for training, making member tourist guides the best qualified guides in Europe.
